Beat by Beat: A scene is comprised of sections called “beats.” A beat begins when actors establish their points of view and ends when they surrender them for new points of view. Your scene might start off strong, but if you don’t know what the beat is, you can’t build that scene. It will drift, becoming muddled and confusing. Beat by Beat will help you identify, develop, and create new beats in a straightforward and natural way. Prerequisite: Level 2 or higher or permission of instructor and principal.
About the Instructor: David Razowsky studied, performed, taught, and directed at Second City with fellow performers Stephen Colbert, Steve Carrell, and Michael Keegan-Key, among many others. He went on to serve as Artistic Director of Second City Hollywood for nine years before turning his attention to full-time coaching. He has directed and taught his methodology to individuals and groups in the US and worldwide.
