Brent Morin
One of Brent Morin’s first showbusiness jobs was as a production assistant for Conan O’Brien’s show. Thanks to his remarkable comedic talents, only four years later, he was a guest. His quick rise through the comedy ranks has included a great sitcom (Undateable), his own Netflix special, and – of course – headlining the DC Improv. Welcome him back as he takes over our stage for the third time.

ComedySportz improv (all ages)
ComedySportzDC offers clean improv comedy. Two teams battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes and songs on the spot. The audience shouts out all the suggestions and votes for the winners, while the referee calls the fouls. It's not a comedy show ABOUT sports, it's the comedy show that IS a sport – similar to what you’ve seen on “Whose Line.” This show is "all ages," meaning that people under the age of 18 may attend.

Come out and wordplay! You're invited to watch or compete in Pun DMV, our pun contest. The night is hosted by Dana Fleitman, and it has two events:
The Freestyle: Each competitor chooses a punning theme, then prepares in advance a two-minute speech packed with puns inspired by that theme. On the night of the show, the competitors deliver their speeches on stage. We'll pick a few finalists, based on quality of puns and overall delivery. Then the audience will decide the winner by cheering. The May 16 Freestyle lineup: Lisa Bonos, Erika Ettin , Rachel Gross, Annie Lynn, Sophie Miller, Elliot Postell, Jesse Rifkin, Jon Schlaifer, Aaron Schwartzbaum, Daniel Shore, Emily Simon. If you'd like to compete in a future Pun DMV event (or our March 28 Pun DMV Remix) please e-mail chris@dcimprov.com.
The Tournament: An on-the-spot punning tournament featuring up to 20 people. At the start of each match, contestants are given a theme. They then take turns making up puns on the spot. People are eliminated when they're stumped. The last person standing moves on to the next round (or victory)! Anyone in attendance can compete, and you can sign up on site when you arrive.
The winners of either contest get prizes from the Improv (and eternal glory)! Click here for more info on Pun DMV, including some samples of how the games work in practice.

Happy Hour Trivia is a two-hour "bar trivia" game held once a month at the DC Improv Lounge. It works like most bar trivia nights, only the production values are way higher and the questions are a little bit tougher. Each game consists of four rounds. We usually have two standard "question and answer" rounds, where the host reads questions over the microphone and you fill in your answer sheet. There's a "worksheet" round, and there's a video or audio round using the Improv's sweet projector. There are prizes for first, second and third place. (And those prizes are totally awesome, we swear.) Doors open at 6:30, the game starts around 7:05, and there is no cover charge. If you want to reserve seats while avoiding the service charge, e-mail trivia@dcstandup.com with your name and the size of your party.

The focus is on building confidence, communication skills and a sense of play -- improv training often helps people develop teamwork and creative thinking. While students are coached to learn new games and skills, less time is spent on preparing for a performance, and more time is spent on simply having fun. This class is both for beginning improvisers who want to learn the games they've seen in shows, and for experienced improv students who want to recapture a sense of playfulness in their games and scenes. Frank Caliendo
A Message From Frank
Hey Everyone,
This spring and summer, I'm going to be doing a bunch of ONE NIGHT ONLY SHOWS (with a couple exceptions) in smaller venues. The idea behind these shows will be different than what I've been doing in theaters around the country for the past few years.
Before you ask..... YES, of course I'll be doing a bunch of impressions, but I'm going to also work on being "me" a lot more around them.
Some of you are probably thinking, "Oh No! Frank's having a midlife crisis!" No, I think a midlife crisis is more about being unsure of yourself. This is not the issue. This is about getting outside of the box I've built around myself on stage and letting my fans get to know the real me.
My plan is for these shows to be the most fun I've ever had on stage and I know we will all end up having a blast.
So, see you out there! Let's make some magic.
-- Frank
PS. I won't actually be doing any magic tricks with the audience.
PPS. If I do start doing magic, then you can easily say, "Oh he's DEFINITELY having a midlife crisis."

Two-day workshop: June 2-3, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day (1 hour lunch break)
David Razowsky is the respected improv teacher and director whose signature work is to get the actor to set aside all of the unnecessary elements of improv training and replace them with a life-changing awareness of “You ... being on stage with you.” Razowsky feels that, contrary to popular improv belief, the most important person on stage is YOU. YOU get to notice what happens, YOU get to be aware of what’s inspiring you, YOU get to follow what energizes you, and YOU get to celebrate the surprises that YOU create.
With the YOU workshop you’ll enter the world of personal awareness and presentness, of the excitement of knowing what to do the moment the moment arrives! YOU are in charge, and this workshop will be a study of--and a practice of--you connecting to you. YOU are the boss of YOU. This is the work that Razowsky’s most excited to share with you. Pun DMV: Remix
Come out and wordplay! The DMV's very own pun contest now has its very own spin-off. The night is hosted by Dana Fleitman and consists of two events:
The Remix: In a Pun DMV "Freestyle" competition (like we're having May 16), people mostly deliver pun-filled solo speeches built around a single punning theme. For the Remix, we want anything but. This event is open to teams, one to three people in size. Perform a sketch, sing a song, do a PowerPoint presentation, improve on a classic movie scene, show us a video you prepared in advance, bust out some props. Whatever you do, just make your presentation punderful, and no more than 4-5 minutes in length. E-mail chris@dcimprov.com if you want to compete, or if you have any questions about participating in this event.
Teams for June 28 will be listed as they are confirmed.

John Witherspoon
John Witherspoon is a comedy institution. Most people know him from TV and movies -- he’s the crazy father figure from “Friday,” “The Wayans Brothers” and “The Boondocks.” He’ll do anything to entertain his fans – he once cut a rap album, and he has his own internet cooking show. And he continues to tour as a great stand-up comedian. Spoon is endearing and honest, and he knows how to send a crowd home happy. One of our favorites! Please note: VIP tickets provide preferred seating (close to the stage).

Arnez J
Arnez J is one of the most physical comedians working today – which isn’t surprising, considering he flirted with careers as a Harlem Globetrotter and a baseball player. His gift for telling and acting out jokes gives him broad appeal, which was on display during his two seasons as host of “Comic View.” In March, you might have caught him at Constitution Hall -- but now you get to see him up close and personal this September.
