Alfred Kainga

DC Improv debut! Alfred Kainga was named the "Breakout Comedian of the Year" at the 2023 Because They're Funny comedy festival, right here in Washington, DC. Now he's back in the nation's capital, taking a victory lap on the city's most famous comedy stage. Born in Zimbabwe, Alfred is a two-time Finalist in the Funniest Comic in Texas Competition. He made his television debut in 2016 on Comedy Central, performing on Kevin Hart’s “Hart of the City.”

Admission Policies

• Please note: An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. Senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting our establishment, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
• Patrons must be 18 or older to attend events or classes at the DC Improv. Any exceptions are clearly noted in the event descriptions.
• There is a two-item minimum per customer. This can be any combination of food items or beverages. Bottled water and soft drinks count as items. (The two-item minimum does not apply to comedy classes.)
• Coupons or passes for free admission cannot be used for a show listed as a "special event."

Seating Policies

• Matinees, the first show of any evening in our main showroom and all shows in our lounge showroom are seated by time of arrival. The earlier you arrive, the more options you'll have. Please note that the size of your party can affect what options are available to you, as certain tables and areas are designated for larger parties.
• "Late shows" in the main showroom have assigned seating. Assignments are made in order of ticket purchase. Generally speaking, the earlier you buy tickets, the closer you will be to the stage.
• If tickets are designated as being at a "reserved table," your party will have a table to itself. For general admission tickets, if your party does not fill an entire table, you may be sharing a table with other patrons.

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Alfred Kainga throughout his childhood developed a comedic talent and was known for making family and friends erupt in laughter. He moved to the United States in 2001 and began his comedy career in 2005, in the highly competitive, Dallas comedy scene.

Alfred has achieved much success in the world of comedy throughout a short span of time. He is a 2 time Finalist in the Funniest Comic in Texas Competition. Alfred Kainga made his television debut in 2016 on Comedy Central, performing in Kevin Hart’s “Hart of the City.” He has also appeared on the Chad Prather Comedy Shootout on RideTv in 2018. Alfred has toured and performed with some of the biggest names in comedy and is a staple feature in Comedy Clubs across the country and has toured in colleges and universities across the US.

Most recently, Alfred has taken his “Funny from A to Z” brand of comedy global, performing in several countries, including, St. Maarten, the Bahamas, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and South Africa, Jamaica, Canada, Uganda, and England. He has received rave reviews from fans all across the globe. Alfred’s comedy is universal and entertains fans from various races and backgrounds.
