Josh Johnson is an Emmy-nominated writer, stand-up, actor, and NAACP award-winner from Louisiana by way of Chicago. He is currently a writer on "The Daily Show" and is a former writer and performer on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," where he made his late-night debut in 2017. In addition, Johnson is Comedy Central’s "most watched comedian ever" with 40M+ views to date across their platforms.

As a stand-up, Johnson headlines clubs, colleges, and festivals around the world. In 2015, he was named one of Comedy Central’s “Comic to Watch,” in 2016 a “New Face” at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, and in 2018 the winner of the “New York's Funniest” competition at the New York Comedy Festival.

Johnson’s most recent stand-up special, "Josh Johnson: Up Here Killing Myself," premiered on Peacock earlier this year to rave reviews touting Josh as a “naturally gifted story teller.” Comedy Central released Johnson’s first hour-long special "#(Hashtag)" in June 2021.

Johnson’s self-released comedy and music mixtape album "Elusive" was described by Vanyaland as “live stand-up observational humor with musical compositions. Both elements wade in and out of political and social waters between the two “arcs” of the multi-genre epic". Johnson also co-hosts the weekly podcast "The Josh Johnson Show" (with fellow stand-up Logan Nielsen).

Johnson’s other credits include, "CONAN" (TBS), "@Midnight," "Kevin Hart's Hart of The City," "The New Negroes," and 'This Week at The Comedy Cellar" on Comedy Central.

Admission Policies

  • Please note: An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. Senior citizens and people with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting our establishment, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
  • Patrons must be 18 or older to attend events or classes at the DC Improv. Any exceptions are clearly noted in the event descriptions.
  • There is a two-item minimum per customer. This can be any combination of food items or beverages. Bottled water and soft drinks count as items. (The two-item minimum does not apply to comedy classes.)
  • Coupons or passes for free admission cannot be used for a show listed as a "special event."

Seating Policies

  • Matinees, the first show of any evening in our main showroom and all shows in our lounge showroom are seated by time of arrival. The earlier you arrive, the more options you'll have. Please note that the size of your party can affect what options are available to you, as certain tables and areas are designated for larger parties.
  • "Late shows" in the main showroom have assigned seating. Assignments are made in order of ticket purchase. Generally speaking, the earlier you buy tickets, the closer you will be to the stage.
  • If tickets are designated as being at a "reserved table," your party will have a table to itself. For general admission tickets, if your party does not fill an entire table, you may be sharing a table with other patrons.
